Whole genome scanning is a powerful technique used to measure
linkage disequilibrium, a condition where the observed frequencies
of haplotypes in a population do not agree with predicted haplotype
frequencies. Linkage disequilibrium analysis is often the first
step in identifying candidate genes associated with a particular
disease or drug response.
Polymorphic DNA Technologies offers whole genome scanning using
automated fluorescent microsatellite analysis. We offer scanning
at multiple densities including 20, 10 and 5 centimorgans. Samples
are analyzed using ABI 3730 XL DNA sequencers. There is a 48 sample
minimum.
